Rep. Harley Rouda Requests Information Re: Fairview Developmental Center Housing COVID-19 Patients

Today, Congressman Harley Rouda (CA-48) sent letters to the United States Department of Health and Human Services and the Office of Governor Newsom requesting information regarding the potential use of Fairview Developmental Center in Costa Mesa, California, as a treatment center for individuals testing positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

"Fairview Developmental Center is located in a densely populated area and sits next to schools, homes, and businesses -- I have serious concerns about how and why this location was selected by federal officials to house patients with COVID-19," said Rouda. "On behalf of local officials and Orange County families, I wrote to relevant agencies to demand answers to these questions."

"The lack of adequate communication and sufficient notice to local elected and public officials is unacceptable. The stakes are too high to provide anything less than comprehensive public health and safety plans that include input from all stakeholders."
